Sometimes we hear a story at the right moment, and it can be just what we need to make a change.

That's why we asked a few of our Clean veterans to share their experiences on the Clean Program.

Their powerful stories showcase that we have more control over our health than we think.

Cricket writes:

"I cannot thank Dr. J and the Clean Team enough for creating the Clean Program. I am no longer asthmatic, my eczema is gone, and I sleep like a baby. Plus I lost sixty pounds and look ten years younger.

"I was fortunate to be born with a wonderful body; tall, strong, and remarkably resilient. However, decades of poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle squandered much of my health.

By my early fifties, I had ballooned to 335 pounds and was an out-of-control type II diabetic, facing imminent kidney failure, blindness, and amputations. Rather than surrender to a premature and painful demise, I began a no-holds-barred campaign to reclaim my health.

"Five years ago I was coming out of a very unsupportive, unhealthy work situation. At fifty-five years old, I decided to take an early retirement for health reasons. I was over 250 pounds and battling asthma, headaches, osteoarthritis, various food allergies, depression, anxiety, insomnia and was on medications for ALL of them.

I started an elimination diet on my own to see if I could try and harness my runaway ill health. This was very tough, isolating and hard to evaluate on my own.

Then a friend recommended Dr. Junger's Clean book, so I checked out a copy from our local library and the rest is history!

My first 21-day Clean Program I did on my own almost three years ago. I felt a slight shift in my health. I felt a lightness, the fog in my brain lifted, my mood changed. I became more proactive.

With that first bit of encouragement I enrolled in the Facebook Clean group for the next group cleanse and WOW what a difference.

I now have my own functional medicine doctor and eat Clean ninety percent of the time. I have found yoga, meditating, gardening and laughter to be incredibly healing. I am seventy pounds lighter and have said adios to asthma, depression, anxiety, insomnia, headache, and osteoarthritis medications.

At sixty-one years old, my friends say, "You are glowing! What are you up to?". Then I tell them my health story for which Clean played a very important role.

Final Thoughts

Everyone has a different health history and different strengths and weaknesses. That means that each of our experiences on the Clean Program will be slightly different.

For some of us, we may feel sluggish in the beginning and then a burst of energy towards the end. For others, it may be the opposite. Some sail through the program and find it easier than the way they normally live. For others, it’s challenging.

In the end, there is no right way to experience the program.

But whatever your experience, you can rest assured that the Clean Program is giving you the tools to live well and feel great.
