AA string of holidays are right around the corner, which means lots of holiday festivities and fun. It’s a time to celebrate with friends and family, but it also means we’re now constantly surrounded by holiday treats and sweets. So we’ve put together a list of holiday treats that will help you join the party but stay true to your wellness plan. Blueberry Coconut Cake

I discovered a version of this cake on one of my favourite food and photography blogs, Roost. They call it a Coconut Dream Cake and it is indeed dreamy. It’s a paleo recipe (they adapted it from Make it Paleo; proof that this cake has been tested and loved by many!) so it’s grain-free, packed with protein and low-glycemic ingredients. It’s also dairy and sugar free, with a perfect balance of moisture and flavor. It holds up well for several days and I agree with Roost that it tastes like a heartier version of a coconut wedding cake.

Banana Bread

A delicious version of an old favorite. This bread has bananas, eggs and coconut nectar so make sure you save it for the Refresh program or for after you’ve completed the Clean Cleanse or the Gut Protocol. It’s wonderful to be able to share kitchen-time with your family, especially giving kids a refined-sugar free version of a classic treat so they don’t feel like they’re going without while eating healthy food.

Stone Fruit Crumble

The protein and healthy fats in the almonds and coconut (as well as the cinnamon) help keep blood sugar levels stable, but berries and stone fruit are generally lower in sugar than other fruit anyway. . . this is a wonderful dessert or breakfast, and you can easily use winter fruit like apples, figs and pears for a colder weather variation.
