Prep time: 15 minutes, plus cooling time
Serves: 2
Ingredients:
1 pint of blueberries (save a few for garnish)
¼ cup coconut palm sugar
32 ounces water, plus ¼ cup
4 holy basil tea bags
¼ cup of fresh rose petals, or 2 tablespoons dried
juice of 1 lemon
1 lemon, sliced or cut into wedges
2-4 cups ice cubes
Directions:
Place the blueberries into a small sauce pan along with the coconut palm sugar and ¼ cup of water. Bring to a boil, lower heat and gently simmer until the blueberries break down. Transfer over to a blender and puree until silky smooth. Place in the fridge to cool.
Combine tea bags and rose petals in a large drink container. Bring 32 ounces of water to a boil then pour over the tea bags and rose petals, cover and let steep for 10 minutes. Let tea cool before serving. This can also be done in the evening and placed in the fridge to cool overnight.
To serve, mix the chilled tea with the lemon juice, serve over ice. Stir a few tablespoons of the blueberry puree into the glasses. Top with a lemon slice or two. Enjoy this tulsi blueberry lemonade!
