Halloween is just around the corner which means processed junk and candy everywhere. While there’s been a small push in the media to encourage giving out healthier items to trick-or-treating children, the promotion and availability of junk food can be irresistibly enticing.
Never fear, we at the Clean team have put together a few suggestions to help you get through the Halloween season in good health.
#1 Be Prepared. You know the candy is coming, why not prepare some sweet clean alternatives that feel fun and tasty? Arm your sweet tooth with our chocolate crunch bars, apricot pistachio bites, fudge brownies, or a chocolate drink and cookie combo. Freeze a big batch in advance to have something on hand when the urge strikes. If you’re pressed for time, dates filled with almond butter, a dark chocolate bar (70% or above), Lärabars, or good-for-you popsicles can do the trick.
#2 Negotiate a Compromise. We asked the Clean moms on our team how they keep their kids from eating too much candy. They told us that they compromise and let their kids have a few pieces of candy (one piece a day for a week) and then remove the rest. Most kids forget about the extra candy, especially if you have some clean treats on hand.
#3 Support your gut. Whenever the junk food is flying, give your gut a little love with some extra digestive support. Add ginger to meals, include a probiotic and take your digestive enzyme to help your body process sugar and heavy foods.
#4 Renew Your Life. If you do end up eating a few more sweets than you’d like, don’t worry. The Clean team is here to support you and get you back on track with Daily Shakes or the Clean Program before the next holiday strikes.
