In a perfect world we’d all have easy access to fresh fruit and vegetables. While food inequality has always been a global issue, and a pressing one at that, obtaining healthy food became a concern for many Americans seemingly overnight. The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted life as we previously knew it, making a simple trip to the grocery store a time-consuming and stressful event, if you’re healthy enough to go in person.Continue reading “Healthy smoothies without fresh fruit and veggies”
Mango is one of the best alternatives to bananas during your cleanse. It provides the thick, sweet, creamy texture that we all love as a base for smoothies, but it is cleanse-friendly. Bonus: its flavor will instantly transport you to a warm, sunny beach, no matter what the weather is outside!
Smoothie bowls contain all of the nutrient density of our beloved Clean Program smoothies, with a slight change in texture to mix things up on your 21-day Cleanse or change up your AM smoothie routine. This bowl tastes like chocolate ice cream, and you won’t believe its sugar-free and loaded with produce. The best part is you’ll feel like you’re eating dessert for breakfast!
We recently went through the reasons why you can’t eat certain foods on the 21-Day Clean Program. This includes bananas. In spite of being a common smoothie ingredient, many people are allergic or sensitive to certain fruits and don’t even know it. You can also become intolerant to bananas by consuming too many! Here at Clean, we believe in using supplements as a support tool. Eating plenty of organic produce and whole foods, moving your body regularly, and practicing stress management should remain the bread and butter to finding optimal health. If you are practicing these daily healthy habits and want to boost your results, supplementation can be a great next step. We all know we’re supposed to watch our sugar intake. Eating too much sugar (especially refined sugars) can lead to some serious health problems like insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, obesity, heart disease, and even cancer. It’s also very addictive and can damage our gut health by promoting the growth of unhealthy bacteria.
Probiotics help replenish intestinal flora and restore balance to the gut. They can help tip the scale back towards good bacteria and away from bad bacteria, fungus and yeast, reducing sugar cravings. It’s also important to make sure you have some enjoyable recipes like this low-sugar smoothie bowl.
This green smoothie bowl is deliciously detoxifying. Avocado and spinach are great detox foods. Avocados are rich in essential fatty acids and these healthy fats are essential during a detox diet, because it promotes the release of bile from the gallbladder, allowing for the elimination of toxins from the body and fat-soluble vitamins. The omega-3 fatty acids in avocados help to keep your skin glowing from the inside out. It’s also good to eat more avocados in the colder months because they provide moisture to your skin.
