Now that we are heading into summer, it should be even easier to get into the shake making groove.
There is nothing better than a cool refreshing shake on a hot summer day. This chocolate shake is a super-hydrating treat loaded with potassium from both the fresh coconut water and apricots. Feel free to shake things up by using another fresh, local stone fruit of your choice. Or add in a scoop of our Chocolate Daily Shake for even more flavor and protein!
Going Nuts for Coconuts in Our Chocolate Shake
Coconut water, containing, essential electrolytes such as potassium and sodium, is extremely hydrating, which makes it the perfect addition to any summer smoothie. Coconut water also contains a high concentration of fiber, it is very helpful in facilitating digestion and reducing acid reflux.
We all want a sun-kissed glow this summer, which means we definitely want to add coconuts into our diet, they are great at toning the skin and helping to reduce oil. It also moisturizes our skin from within, when ingested orally, through a smoothie perhaps, perfect for those hot summer days.
Spicing Things Up in This Cool Chocolate Shake
Ginger has a long list of health benefits that makes it a great addition to our chocolate smoothie. Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory, it also helps to strengthen our immune system, by battling respiratory issues. Ginger will also add subtle spicy kick to our smoothie, that will help wake us up and refresh our senses.
The Chocolatey Flavor in Our Chocolate Shake
The chocolate in our chocolate shake comes from cacao powder, a powerful and tasty superfood. Cacao is loaded with an abundance of magnesium which will give us tons of energy throughout the day and help to combat fatigue. Cacao also contains anandamide a mood boosting neurotransmitter, which creates a feeling of bliss and euphoria. So go ahead and put an extra scoop of cacao powder in your chocolate shake, for an added boost of happiness!
Prep time: 10 minutes
1 Thai young coconut, water and flesh (or 12 ounces nut milk + 4 ounces coconut milk)
2 ripe apricots, stone removed
2 soft Medjool dates, pits removed
2 tablespoons cacao powder
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
pinch of sea salt
Place all the ingredients into a high speed blender and blend well for 45 seconds. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
