Want to switch up your normal smoothie routine? Feeling a little extra stressed lately? This hemp smoothie has got you covered. We’ve combined some of our favorite ingredients like blueberries, pineapple, basil, and hemp oil to come up with a smoothie that is anything but boring. It’s also loaded with major health benefits to help you manage stress and support your immune system. If you’ve never added herbs to your morning drink before, now is a great time to start.
Full-spectrum hemp oil is made from from industrial hemp. It contains naturally occurring phytocannabinoids and terpenes, which have been shown to support body function and health. Hemp has been shown to support healthy stress response, promote digestive health, support brain health, fight inflammation, and support immune response.
Immune support with pineapple
Pineapple is high in vitamin C, one of our favorite immune supporters, and manganese. They are also a good source of antioxidants. Pineapples also contain bromelain, a group of digestive enzymes that breaks down proteins, which can aid in digestion. As we know, healthy digestion is essential for overall health and making sure that we absorb all of those critical vitamins and nutrients that we take in through our food. Pineapples also have anti-inflammatory properties that may boost the immune system.
Beat inflammation with basil
Basil is a totally underrated superfood powerhouse. It contains powerful essential oils, including eugenol, citronellol, and linalool. These are enzyme-inhibiting oils that help lower inflammation. Basil essential oils have also been found to exhibit antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacteria, yeasts, molds, and viruses. This can help maintain better gut health, support healthy skin, and keep our immune systems healthy and supported.
Some practitioners of traditional medicine commonly recommend basil to help manage blood sugar levels. Healthy blood sugar levels are essential to our well-being and can affect weight management, energy, and anxiety. Basil contains two important water-soluble flavonoid antioxidants, known as orientin and viceninare, which can help protect white blood cells responsible for immune function. Basil is also wonderfully easy to grow in a windowsill or kitchen!
Blueberry Pineapple + Basil Hemp Smoothie
● 1 ½ cups unsweetened coconut milk
● 4-5 large basil leaves (feel free to sub mint, or leave out)
● 1 cup spinach, loosely packed (use frozen, if needed)
● ½ cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
● ⅓ cup pineapple, fresh or frozen
● 1 inch of ginger, peeled (use powdered, if needed)
● 1 dropper full of full-spectrum hemp oil
● 1 scoop Vanilla Daily Shake
Optional: 1 tbsp almond butter
Combine all of the ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
Add a few ice cubes, and blend again until smooth if you’d like to keep it nice and chilled. Enjoy your hemp smoothie immediately!
