How Can This Pineapple Cilantro Smoothie Help with Chelation?

Smoothies are a staple on the Clean Program cleanse, and a habit we recommend keeping well beyond your 21-day program with a morning Daily Shake. Starting your day with a smoothie is an excellent way of easing the body into digestion after your overnight fast, plus it gives you the hydration and nutrients you need to start the day. With warmer days, we love this pineapple cilantro smoothie for its tropical flavor and detoxifying qualities.


Pineapples have a long list of benefits like boosting immunity, improving bone health, and aiding digestion. Pineapples are also one of the densest sources of bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme that helps with digestive issues and allergies, which is why pineapple has long been considered a healing fruit in Hawaiian culture. The enzyme also has anti-inflammatory properties, helping to fight swelling and tense muscles, and pineapple juice was also once used as a meat tenderizer for this reason. Bromelain has also been shown to fight lung metastasis, which suggests that it has the potential to fight a variety of cancers.

GENTLE CHELATION FOR GOOD HEALTH

The cilantro in this smoothie is very mild, so don't fear an overwhelming flavor! Cilantro is extremely rich in antioxidants, vitamins A and K, folate, and potassium. Heavy metal build-up in the system is a modern issue many of us are unaware of but can lead to a long list of medical problems if ignored. Arsenic, aluminum, lead, and mercury are just a few metals found in modern bodies which can lead to chronic illness, inflammation, hormonal imbalances, and neurological problems. Fortunately, cilantro has been shown to help loosen these heavy metals from our muscles, helping our bodies to eliminate them from our systems. Cilantro has proven to not only help remove these metals from the system but also to protect the body from oxidative damage that they can cause.

CHLOROPHYLL - THE "BLOOD" OF PLANTS 

We've included chlorophyll in this smoothie for its beautiful color and health benefits. Chlorophyll is a plant pigment that is required for plants to absorb sunlight to create energy. When consumed by humans, it has been shown to help prevent cancer by attaching to carcinogens and preventing them from being absorbed effectively. Chlorophyll also helps improve liver detoxification, making it the perfect booster food during your cleanse.

Ingredients:

2 cups fresh or frozen pineapple
2 tbsp chlorophyll
1 lime (juice)
2 scoops Vanilla Daily Shake (or one Vanilla Cleanse packet)
1 cup coconut milk
1/4 cup cilantro
Ice (if using fresh pineapple)
2 cups spinach

Optional: serving of collagen protein


Directions:

Step 1: Peel and remove the core of the pineapple, if using fresh. Cut into blendable pieces.

Step 2: Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth. Serve immediately, or store in the refrigerator in an air-tight container to drink in the following 24 hours.
